Have your player skate from below one blue line to past the other. Stay at the red line โ do not move your feet. Follow the player smoothly with your camera as they skate past.
How Close Does the Player Need to Be?
Under 5ft tall10-15 feet from boards
5ft to 5ft 6in15-20 feet from boards
Over 5ft 6in20-25 feet from boards
โ When in doubt have them skate closer. Too far away is the most common mistake.
Step 2 โ How to Film
Use Portrait Mode โ Phone Vertical
Hold your phone vertically. Start pointing at your player before the first blue line, follow them smoothly as they skate past, keep following until they pass the second blue line. Keep the player centered and filling at least half the frame height.
โ Smooth slow follow
โ Jerky shaky camera
Step 3 โ The Speed
70-80% Speed โ Not a Full Sprint
Have your player skate at about 70-80% effort โ controlled and deliberate. This gives the AI the clearest view of their mechanics. Tell them: "Skate like you are warming up, not racing."
BEFORE YOU FILM
Set this up now โ takes 30 seconds

LANDSCAPE MODE
Rotate your phone horizontal right now before tapping record
๐
STAND AT THE BOARDS
Hold your phone in landscape and stand still. Pan to keep the player centered.

ONE LENGTH OF THE ICE
Player skates goal line to goal line at 70-80% effort. One pass is all you need.
HOW TO FILM
Follow these steps for accurate results

PHONE SETUP
๐ฑ Landscape Mode โ Always
Rotate your phone to landscape (horizontal) before tapping record. Portrait mode cuts off the player's skates and loses half the stride data.
โ LANDSCAPE
๐ฑโก๏ธ
Phone horizontal. Full body visible. More strides per second.
โ PORTRAIT
๐ฑโฌ๏ธ
Phone vertical. Cuts off skates. Misses half the stride.
โ Rotate your phone BEFORE tapping record โ not after
How Far Should You Stand?
Player must fill at least half the frame height. Starting distances from the boards. When in doubt, stand closer.
Under 5ft tall10โ15 ft
5ft to 5ft 6in15โ20 ft
Over 5ft 6in20โ25 ft
โ Filming too far is the #1 reason analyses fail. If unsure โ move closer.

HOW TO FILM
๐ How to Film Mechanics
Stand at the boards on the side of the ice โ you do not need to move. Your player skates from one goal line to the other at 70โ80% effort. Pan your phone to keep them centered the whole way. One length of the ice gives HLH enough strides to measure every metric.
โ 70โ80% EFFORT
Controlled game-speed. Full strides, full extension. Same mechanics as real play.
โ 100% SPRINT
Full sprint shortens stride and changes mechanics. HLH reads different form.
โ Tell your player: "Skate like you're in the third period โ strong but controlled"
