Stop guessing what’s holding your players back. The answer is in the data.

Every elite coach has strong instincts. But instincts alone don’t retain players, satisfy parents, or justify premium rates. HLH gives your intuition an objective foundation.

When a parent questions why their child isn’t moving up, you don’t argue. You open the dashboard and show them the knee bend at 148° vs the elite threshold of 90°. The data does the talking.

That’s what separates good coaches from programs players stay in for five years.

OUR POSITION

We Work With Coaches.
Not Against Them.

Skills coaches, team coaches, and organizations are not our competition, they are our partners. A parent who trusts their coach will follow that coach's recommendation to use HLH.

Players work with their coach 1-3 days a week. HLH covers the rest. The players who use HLH between sessions arrive at your next practice measurably better — which makes your coaching look better and keeps families in your program longer.

FOR SKILLS & PRIVATE COACHES
Restrict parents to Score and Metrics only — they never see the drill plan. You remain the expert. HLH gives you the objective data to show exactly what you are fixing and why, which justifies your rates and retains clients longer.
FOR TEAM COACHES
Upload your whole roster in one batch. HLH identifies the weakest metrics across your team and generates a focused 10-minute drill plan for your next practice. Players track their own progress between sessions and arrive already improving.
FOR AAA & AA ORGANIZATIONS
Standardize player evaluation across every team in your program. Objective tryout scorecards protect your coaching staff from parent complaints. Custom baselines let you measure every player against your organization's own standards.
The Problem

Three Problems
Every Coach Faces.

// PROBLEM_01
Subjective Feedback Gets Challenged
Parents hear “needs to get lower” and ask, lower than what? How much? Says who? Objective data ends that conversation before it starts.
// PROBLEM_02
Full Speed Hides the Flaws
At game speed, the human eye misses knee bend angles, hip rotation asymmetry, and triple extension timing. AI catches every frame at every stride.
// PROBLEM_03
Development Is Invisible
Without measurement, a player improves and nobody can prove it. With HLH, you show exactly which metrics moved, by how much, and when.
Tryout Mode
Eliminate Tryout Bias.
Protect Your Organization.
Every cut player gets an objective HLH Scorecard. Base roster decisions on measurable data — not coaching preference. For AAA and AA programs, this is political coverage for your board of directors.
Every player assessed on the same 11-metric standard
Cut players receive their HLH Scorecard — objective and defensible
Benchmark against your program’s own historical data
Reduce parent complaints with data that speaks for itself
3D Biomechanical Engine

BUILT FOR REAL ICE.
NOT A LAB.

Most skating analysis tools break the moment your camera moves. HLH was built for real practice conditions where you are on the ice, other players are cutting through the frame, and you are following your player with a handheld phone.

Our 3D engine isolates the target player from the chaos, reconstructs their full skeletal movement in world space, and delivers accurate biomechanical data regardless of how the shot was captured.

No tripod required
Other players in the frame handled automatically
Accurate from any angle on the ice
Moving camera. Handheld phone. Same result.
How the engine works
1
Player Detection
Isolates your player from teammates, boards, and background movement in every frame.
2
Keypoint Extraction
Maps 17 biomechanical landmarks across the player skeleton with vision transformer precision.
3
3D World Space Reconstruction
Lifts 2D keypoints into world-space 3D coordinates, eliminating camera angle and perspective distortion entirely.
The Business Case

Data That Justifies
Your Rates.

Parents who see objective biomechanical data do not question your rates, they justify them to other parents. When a family watches their player improve from 148° to 98° knee bend over 12 weeks, they do not leave your program. They refer friends.

How It Works

At Practice.
Between Practices.
One Platform.

HLH works on two tracks simultaneously. Coaches use it at practice. Players use it between sessions. Both tracks feed each other, players improve faster, coaches get the credit.

TRACK 1
AT PRACTICE
Coach films the team once a month. Uploads the whole roster in one batch. HLH identifies the weakest metrics across the team. Coach runs a focused 10-minute drill segment targeting exactly those mechanics. The whole team works on what the data says matters most, not what the coach guesses.
Bulk upload entire roster at once
Team wall and sortable leaderboard
Objective data for 10 minutes of practice
Parents automatically notified of results
TRACK 2
BETWEEN PRACTICES
Between practices the player uploads their own video. They see what changed. They get their personalized drill plan. They do the work on their own days. They come back to the next practice measurably better.
Player uploads on their own schedule
Personalized drill plan targeting weak metrics
Progress tracked week over week
Player arrives at next session already improved
You do the diagnosis. HLH does the treatment between sessions.
Your players improve faster. Parents see the data. Everyone wins.
What We Measure

11 Metrics. One Complete Picture.

Based on peer-reviewed biomechanical research — University of Calgary, York University, and published NCAA skating studies

KNEE BEND
The single most important skating mechanic. Elite forwards maintain 87-95°.
FORWARD LEAN
Upper body angle from vertical. Higher = more lean = more power. Elite skaters reach 40-55° during the loading phase.
HIP EXTENSION
How fully the hip opens on each push. Full extension means the entire leg chain contributes.
SYMMETRY GAP
Left vs right angle difference. Large gaps indicate energy waste and injury risk. A gap over 15° means one leg absorbs significantly more force per stride — the same asymmetry that leads to groin strains, hip impingement, and knee injuries. HLH flags this automatically.
ANKLE EXTENSION
The toe flick at the end of every stride. Delivers the last burst of each push.
EXPLOSIVENESS
Angular velocity of each push in °/sec. Separates elite skaters from everyone else.
TRIPLE EXTENSION
Hip, knee, and ankle synchronization. When all three fire in sequence, maximum force transfers to the ice.
POWER LEAKS
Ankle extends out of sequence with the knee — wasting energy on every single stride.
STRIDE RATE
Full strides per second. Elite forwards maintain 1.7-1.8/s.
STRIDE LENGTH
Ice coverage per push relative to body size. Camera-agnostic ratio.
SKATING SPEED
Estimated km/h from biomechanical calculation. No radar gun required.
HLH SCORE
0-100 score combining all 11 metrics, weighted by position and age. The number coaches and parents track week over week.

The Biomechanical Framework Behind HLH

HLH was built by Henrik Loehman, a USA Hockey certified power skating coach with over 10 years developing youth hockey players at F.E. Hockey and across Northern Virginia.

The 11-metric framework is built on the same biomechanical principles used at the elite level, knee bend, triple extension, symmetry gap, and stride efficiency. These are not marketing terms. They are the specific mechanics that peer-reviewed research from the University of Calgary and York University identifies as the primary differentiators between recreational and elite skaters.

"I built this because I watched families spend thousands of dollars on development and still guess at what needed to change. Now they don't have to guess."
